Sandy Hatchery Opinion 2014

NOAA Fisheries has issued a biological opinion on the pending approval of continued operation of four hatchery programs in the Sandy River Basin, Oregon, operated by the Oregon Department of Fish And Wildlife (ODFW), pursuant to Limit 5 of the 4(d) Rule of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The hatchery programs release spring Chinook salmon, coho salmon, winter steelhead, and summer steelhead to support fisheries in the Sandy River, the lower Columbia River, and Pacific Ocean. The programs are currently in operation -- this opinion analyzes modifications to the operation of the programs.

The ESA Section 7 biological opinion was signed August 7, 2014. The biological opinion on the previous operations of these four hatchery programs was signed September 28, 2012.
