Notice of Intent to Prepare an EIS – Puyallup-White River Hatchery Programs

Comment Period Closed (as of October 12, 2016)

NOAA Fisheries is obtaining information necessary to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for proposed approval of 8 hatchery programs in the Puyallup-White River basin of Puget Sound, in Washington State. To facilitate the public's involvement in this initial step, NOAA Fisheries invited comments from all interested parties to ensure that the full range of issues related to the hatchery programs is identified. The comment period closed on October 12, 2016.

These hatchery plans (see below) describe the propagation of ESA-listed Chinook salmon and winter-run steelhead, and non-listed coho and fall-run chum salmon in the Puyallup-White River Basin. They were submitted for review as joint state/tribal resource management plans under the ESA 4(d) rule, limit 6 by the WDFW, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, and the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe.
