California Species List Tools

The following tools allow federal agencies or their designated representatives to obtain from NMFS official ESA species lists of endangered or threatened species and critical habitat in California. Anyone can use these tools to find information about ESA-listed species and critical habitat, essential fish habitat, and marine mammals under NMFS purview in California.

ANY FEDERAL ACTION AGENCY MAY OBTAIN AN OFFICIAL ESA SPECIES LIST BY FOLLOWING THESE STEPS;

STEP 1: Determine the geographic area that may be affected by the proposed federal action, and identify the associated quadrangle map(s).

STEP 2: Search either the “KMZ” or “Table” tool to identify ESA threatened, endangered, or proposed species and critical habitat that may be present.

STEP 3: From an official federal agency email account, or non-federal agency representative account, send an email to nmfswcrca.specieslist@noaa.gov
