Okanogan Spring Chinook Hatchery Permit 18928

NOAA Fisheries has issued an Endangered Species Act (ESA) permit for hatchery operations in the Okanogan River.  Permit #18928, issued pursuant to section 10(a)(1)(A) of the ESA, permits a hatchery program (including research, monitoring and evaluation) intended to create a nonessential experimental population (NEP) of Upper Columbia River spring Chinook salmon in an area where spring Chinook salmon have been extirpated.

Permit #18928, issued on October 27, 2014, to the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, authorizes annual take of adult and juvenile upper Columbia River (UCR) spring Chinook salmon through broodstock collection activities, hatchery operations, juvenile fish releases, and monitoring and evaluation activities associated with the Chief Joseph Hatchery Okanogan Spring Chinook Program.  Permit #18928 expires on December 31, 2024.
